Last weekend I would finally get the chance to make up for my 2nd place at the Dutch nationals half distance last year. But you don’t always get what you want..
For financial reasons I might have started too many small and unimportant races…
The Dutch national championships in 2016 turned into a repetition of 2015. You would think only donkeys make the same mistake twice 😉 Although the circumstances were different this year, this time nutrition was not the problem. Instead the too busy race program probably was. For financial reasons I might have started too many small and unimportant races to afford international (riskier) races.
After the bike my battery soon went into the red zone.
After the bike my battery soon went into the red zone. Teammember Mark Oude Bennink made up for his loss on the bike and came closer each loop. The last loop I was not able to keep him away anymore and that’s how he passed me 5k before the finish. Again… As last year Martijn Dekker did the same, or I did the same… I eventually stumbled across the finishline in second place, very dissapointed of course. That Diederik managed to finish in 3rd helped soften the pain a little!
Now time for recovery and work towards some nice international races the last part of the season. The 7th of August I will start Challenge Fredericia (Denmark).
