After the nationals in Klazienaveen I was able to train hard for a period and take some well-needed rest after the many races I did. The preperations for Challenge Fredericia were perfect due to the nice stay with Carsten and Dorthe (thank you!!).
In Klazienaveen I learned my lesson, so I stayed calm on the bike.
With a fresh feeling and ‘race ready’ I appeared at the start. After swimming the course the day before with a dolphin, I knew it was going to be a beautiful race. The water was full of water though, that was a downside. But people told me they wouldn’t sting and I (tried) to trust them. The race started according to plan, I exited the water in the front group and stayed with them on the bike. In Klazienaveen I learned my lesson, so I stayed calm this time. This worked well; I could finish the half marathon steadily and finished in a 4th place. A little frustrating to be so close to the podium, but still very satisfied.
