Not completely at my best I appeared at the start of Ironman 70.3 East London. The problem with my knie was solved just in time before the race, but it cost me quite some training.
On the run I came short to really join the leaders, I eventually finished 6th.
The race went as expected. In the front out of the water; then surviving the bike ride with hills and wind, which made it hard to keep up a strong pace. Everybody was riding their own pace, only in the last 10k I came in a group with Kyle Buckingham and James Cunnema. On the run I came short to really join the leaders, I eventually finished 6th. Still won some prize money, so that is always nice.
After the race Romy and I spend the week in a township in Stilbaai, working for Dreamcatcher South-Africa
To also do something useful while recovering Romy and I spend the week in a township in Stilbaai, working for Dreamcatcher South-Africa. We helped at a school and tried to get the kids’ minds off things for some days by taking them to the beach and doing fun things! Special and also confronting to see this side of South-Arica. Also special to experience how you can help someone with just little things.
