Already a week after Nieuwkoop I planned to start the Ironman 70.3 in Kraichgau. There was a strong field, amongst others, Boris Stein, Sebastian Kienle, Pieter Heemeryck and Markus Fachbach took part.
“This was the first time I was in for prize money in an international race like this.”
The day before the race I explored the course and noticed it would suit me well. That turned out right, but I still tried not to blow myself on the bike and therefor rode safely with a group. Also because I hoped to really kill it on the run. I managed to do that and had (strange enough) the last 5k energy left to catch 4 competitors. I eventually finished in 6th place, that was the first time for me that I was in for the real prizemoney in an international pro race like this. So I was more than satisfied.
